WHY THIS IS GOOD
Zagreb to Guadeloupe normally runs €900–€1,400 round trip. At €788, that's a solid saving. The routing via Paris is actually one of the most natural ways to get to the French Caribbean, since Air France operates the Paris–Guadeloupe route as a well-established domestic-style connection with high frequency and reliable service.
Six months of availability including December and January is unusual for a Caribbean fare. Most Caribbean deals are narrow windows that disappear fast. This one gives you genuine options.
How the timing breaks down:
September and October: Shoulder season in Guadeloupe. Still warm, occasional showers, meaningfully cheaper on accommodation. There are fewer tourists and the best restaurants are easier to get into.
November: Dry season begins. The water clears, the beaches fill, and Guadeloupe starts its best weather window heading into winter.
December and January: Peak season in the Caribbean, but Guadeloupe draws a heavily French crowd rather than the mass-market tourism of other islands. It feels different, more like a French département that happens to be in the Caribbean than a resort island. The weather is excellent and the Christmas period on the island has a genuinely local character.
February and March: Still dry season, still excellent, and you're there for carnival season which is one of the best in the Caribbean.
Guadeloupe is shaped like a butterfly with two main islands connected by a bridge. Basse-Terre has the volcano, the rainforest, and the diving. Grande-Terre has the beaches and the capital Pointe-à-Pitre. Les Saintes, a tiny archipelago a short ferry ride south, is worth a day trip if you're there any longer than a week.
ONCE YOU’RE THERE
A Les Saintes day trip by ferry, a Basse-Terre rainforest and waterfall tour, and a snorkelling trip off the Cousteau Reserve all book out fast in peak season. It’s worth reserving before you land.
